North Island, Seychelles – Paradise on Earth

The North Island was among the first islands in the Seychelles archipelago to be discovered, in 1609. Now, more than 400 years later, the island has managed to keep its absolutely amazing look and all of those who had the chance to visit it agreed that it can’t be far from what we usually call Heaven on Earth. And if you think their reactions are exaggerated, just look at the photos below and think again.

From 1826 to 1970 the North Island belonged to the Beaufond family from Reunion and all this time the island was used for different plantations of fruits and spice plants and also as a source of guano, fish oil and coconuts. However, in 1970 the island was sold and the new owner completely neglected it, the island becoming invaded by wild plants and animals, many of them not original from this area. In 2003 things have changed and the island was bought by Wilderness Safaris, a South African company focused on eco tourism, whose management decided that the island’s initial beauty is what must be drawn into tourists’ attention.

North Island Seychelles Luxury Resort

The plant and wild life preservation program paid off immediately and the 11 luxury villas placed in this wilderness oasis is everything a tourist who just wants to relax is looking for. And it’s no coincidence that in the past 8 years, since the island has been completely transformed, it became an attractive destination for newlyweds looking all over the world looking for a perfect place to spend their honeymoon.
